City Happenings

An update on a few things for informative purposes:

• 8 applicants for AFs Chief of Police are being interviewed today, with narrowing to 4 finalists next.
• An announcement should be forthcoming on a Fire Chief
• Searle Meadows agreement, the development south of Hunter has been finalized, paving the way for 1120 to extend to 600 West. The water line extension will cost $500,000, the entire road with water line to provide fire protection to the west side will cost 1 million.
• The final plat fot 45 lots for the Searle Meadows subdivision was also approved. A nice subdivision with larger lots especially to the west.  (This has been an ongoing collaborative effort that was a win/win/win for the property owners, neighbors and the city), with a derelict parcel being used for Hunter Park.
• We are surplussing some fiber which will bring in additional revenue.
• The city has taken over from Allied Waste (formerly BFI), billing and responsibility for the 2nd recycling container, resulting in smoother accounting and procurement.
• Main Street Plaza consisting of 7 lots (Kawakami property) near Target was approved with a car wash, 2 retails outlets and a restaurant. Lease negotiations with various restaurants are ongoing, so no disclosures as to the identity yet.
• Approval for floating docks for the boat harbor were approved (RDA) funds, to be installed before winter. (Now, if we can only get to the harbor).
• Have previously approved bid for improvements to the drainage problems in Mountain Meadows.
• New fire truck and fire equipment have been approved.

Congrats!......Last night we received a wonderful final report on the Parks Upgrade.  A special thanks to all especially to the MGB+A Architects, Allstate Contractors, Kenny Hoggan, Heidi Rodeback, Juel Belmont, staff and others. There is much left to be done especially ensuring we are proper stewards of our parks for our community.
