Congratulations to those award winners in the recent Mary Kawakami Youth Scholarship Speech Contest. The Patriotic theme was inspiring but even more so with the uplifting speeches by our area youth. The first place $1,000 winner was Jeff Rodeback, 2nd place $600 - Tate Arnold, and third place $400 winners were Erika Brown and Donna Williams.

I also attended the Veteran's Day Program and heard the speeches. They were very different, but both inspirational and touching.

I listened to Jeff and Tate's speeches at the Veterans' Day celebration this past Saturday. Those two young men gave wonderful speeches. Both speeches were inspiring and both were delivered very well. Congratulations to Jeff and Tate.
