How important are local elections?
David Church, General Counsel for the Utah League of Cities and Towns for the last 20 years related the following in a workshop Friday: (paraphrased per his permission)
I enjoy working with elected city officials (some more than others). I can appreciate those who serve and the services local municipalities provide;
- I got up this morning, to take a shower and good clean water came out of the shower head, (the same for my faucet);
- I flushed the toilet and it disappeared;
- I know when I back out of my driveway on garbage day that the garbage will be picked up;
- I know that I can travel on relatively level and safe streets. That traffic signs will be in place;
- I know that my children and others can play in safe parks;
- I know if I call 911 that the police will come if needed;
- I know that fire fighters will also come when needed;
Continuing he said, "Local government is the government of services". Please be a part of the solution and service; VOTE ON Tuesday! (remember to bring your ID).
**** On another note, Utah Premiere Brass will be performing in The Concerts in the Park series Monday Sept 14 at 7pm at the American Fork Amphitheater at Quail Cove. You will not be disappointed if you attend.
