The American Fork Rotary Club will be sponsoring an American Fork City Primary Election "Meet the Candidates" Night on Thursday Sept 3, 2009 at 7pm at Barratt Elementary School located at 168 N. 900 E. in American Fork. The Municipal Primary Election is scheduled for Tuesday Sept 15. The Forum Format will be as follows:
1. Intro from American Fork Rotary Club Representative and explanation of format.
2. Candidates will be seated at tables with name plates in front. Mayoral candidates will be seated first in order as drawn by Rotary Representatives prior to the event. Council candidates will follow in order as drawn.
3. Candidates may wear name tags or campaign buttons. If a candidate is unable to make the event, they may send one representative to sit at the table and speak as well as be available for the following "Meet and Greet".
4. Each candidate will be given up to 5 min only (with a time keeper displaying signs of 1 min. 30 sec and STOP at which time the candidate will stop talking and will be seated promptly).
5. The candidate can use the 5 min. as they choose, i.e. introducing themselves, their qualifications, why they are running for office and any of their campaign platform planks as time permits.
6. At the conclusion of the 12th and last candidates presentation, candidates will be available for 30-45 minutes to "Meet and Greet" voters and audience members.
7. Candidates are allowed to bring only literature for a table to hand out before and after the presentations. Signs and other large campaign items are disallowed.
