It's that time of year when thoughts of spring turn to college basketball. We have conference tournaments this week leading up to Selection Sunday on March 14. Following next Sunday the real Madness Starts with the play-in game on Wednesday and first round games on Thursday and Friday and the Sweet Sixteen set on Saturday and Sunday.
The Mountain West Conference . . . tournament is this weekend. I predict the top 4 seeds, 1. NM, 2. BYU, 3. UNLV and 4. San Diego will advance to the semi-finals, with NM and UNLV advancing to the title game with NM winning the tournament conference championship to go along with their regular season title. BYU has trouble with UNLV at the Thomas and Mack, but they are more likely to slip by them in a semi-final than a final. It would be great to see a NM/BYU title game.
New Mexico is contending for a 3 seed, BYU a 4 seed. More likely than not NM will get a 4 seed and BYU a 6 seed in the NCAA tournament. Don't be surprised to see SDSU and UNLV to go to the Big Dance as double digit seeds.
Get your brackets ready, the best time of year in sports, the NCAA basketball tournament is on our doorsteps. The "One and Done" is what makes it exciting, with upsets, Cinderella stories and the excitement. Let these Games begin . . . NOW!
Are you still blogging?

Oh I so agree Shirl! The home court advantage is not at all fair. It is all about money perhaps? I dunno.
However one must be a "good sport" about it all methinks. I say congrats to SDSU on winning the conference tournament.
(Fake smile with weeping the minute I turn my back...)
And yes the only good thing about this all is NM lost too....am I a bad person for feeling that way? Wait don't answer that...I really don't want to know ;-)

What part of neutrality does the MWC not understand about the neutral floor of the Thomas and Mack Center on the UNLV Campus? Old argument, but still a very valid one.
They had a chance for the Orleans Center in LV, but alas, they waited too long and another conference got it. Too bad for the Cougs, costly turnovers and lack of execution, but still in at end. Good thing NM lost, that helped.

What a performance by the Jimmer man. (Better than the Glimmer man). And he is still not 100%, just see it in his eyes. Speaking of eyes, Wow, thought Tyler was going to ask Burgess Meredith to "cut me". That's gotta hurt. Hope they play the Utes, but unlikely.

LOL Shirl! You a mind full of mush? Never!!!! A brilliant attorney just trying to be impartial and fair.
Fredette is the best guard in the United States. Period. A shame he missed so many games.
Okay I am watching the TCU game now. The officials are making me crazy...I need to calm down...
Skiing today and Peter had me getting big air off jumps by the end of the day. That kid is going to kill his old mother :-) Golf season just around the corner....
Take care Shirl..keep the faith!

Lezlie, upon further review and contemplation, I realized I spoke from a mind full of mush, rather than my heart. D'uh. A healthy Jimmer and a rematch and victory is certainly in reach. Jimmer not being named POY will motivate him (how gracious was he)! The Cougs will be fighting for 4 straight regular season or tournament championship. 4 for JT too, who should be in tournament form. It will be fun to see. Hope you are well and enjoying the slopes. Go BYU.
